Partnership can often be essential in making delivery in isolated rural areas effective by sharing costs or multiplying benefits. Partnership can be an effective way of combining skills to maximise benefits, for example, linking local knowledge and facilities with specialist training providers. Networks provide a fantastic way of sharing best practice as well as providing support. This can be essential where individuals deliver in isolation. Collective activity can be an effective way for smaller organisation to have a larger voice, take on larger projects or deliver over a wider area.

A framework for working together in local educational partnerships (Netherland/English)
Many partnerships develop organically and work well enough to deliver activities for a campaign like e.g. a local learning festival. In many cases the partnership will have clearly defined methods for evaluating the events and activities co-ordinated by that group (recording the numbers of activities/numbers of participants, etc.). However many partnerships may not take time to evaluate their own effectiveness. Click here for more information

RCAN Network (England/English)
The Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) is the name give to the network of 37 RCC’s. They work collectively to share best practice and have a national policy organisation as well as a collecfive delivery contract. The network also operates at a regional level. In addition to startegic work teh partnership functions operationally with officers working in different areas such as village halls or service access provide support to each other.
