Creating ownership of initiatives can be a highly effective way of increasing both participation and attainment. Often the most effective way to achieve this is through the engagement of the learner (or potential learners) in the process of developing and delivering community based education programs. Learner engagement can also be the most direct way of ensuring programs are directed towards learners’ needs and interests. Peer support models of delivery can ensure all parties are beneficiaries and have positive impacts on both learning community cohesion.
