Making Learning Sustainable

Many community projects can become over reliant on single sources of finance. This can make them vulnerable to changes in government policy, economic conditions or grant availability. Whilst this can be devastating for those involved in project delivery the impact of raising aspirations among learners only to withdraw support can be highly detrimental even creating an overall negative effect. It is therefore important to look at sustainable funding as a means of ensuring learning activity is sustainable. Long term planning is essential both to safeguard funding but to ensure support for vulnerable learners, who often take long periods to progress, can be provided.
