What does the toolkit do?
There is a lot informtion available about on what's in your neighbourhood and why it's important. The problem is that there's so much, which makes it difficult to know where to go and how to pull it all together.
What the toolkit seeks to do is not only to tell you where you may be able to get this information, but helps you get the best out of all of the resources and put together a plan of action.
Everything in the toolkit is arranged in a series of steps aimed at producing an action plan and other documentation that is endorsed by the community - but that doesn't mean you can't dip into the appropriate bits to find out more about what's around you.
Get your Community Involved
The toolkit has been organised with a view to getting people to organise themselves into groups that will go out there, find out what's in their area and get involved in protecting and enhancing it.
All along the way there are instructions, hints and tips, thoughts and information on things you can do to get your community involved. The steps and why the toolkit is set up like this is all described in the overview.

- create your own online map and aerial photo
- draw out areas and pinpoint things that you find
- share your map with others
- collaborate on getting more information on the map
- ultimately provide a definitive map of everything in your Parish or community including anything from nice picnic spots to ancient woodland, if you wish!

Find out about the Challenges Facing your Environment
As well as helping you to find things in your area, map these out and get your community involved, the toolkit has lots of information on finding out about the challenges facing your environment and practical things that you can do to help.
Indeed, the whole toolkit is structured around the idea that people will draw up a community action plan with a view to getting involved in protecting and enhancing the environment.

Develop an Effective Action Plan
The toolkit aims to help people and communities organise themselves so that they can go out there, find what's in their area and get involved in protecting and enhancing it. One of the keys to a successful action plan is having the community involved and right behind it. To help you with this the toolkit has:
