HETHERSETT - A GREEN VILLAGE 2008
INTRODUCTION
Hethersett Environmental Action Team (HEAT)
In 2000 a Hethersett Parish Council initiative was launched with the aim: "to conserve and improve the
environment generally, particularly in the parish of Hethersett and to encourage local residents and organisations to this effect". One result was the establishment of the Hethersett Environmental Action Team or HEAT as it is generally known. Initially HEAT operated as an independent group but to enable volunteers to be covered by the Parish Council’s insurance, HEAT became a working group of the Council. HEAT’s activities in Hethersett since 2001 are many and varied including regular litter picks, making and placing bird boxes, tidying up neglected areas and bringing colour to the village through various floral displays.
Green Village 2008
'Green Village 2008' is a HEAT initiative supported by Hethersett Parish Council. A working party of the Council has been set up to take the first steps towards making Hethersett a greener village. The working party consists of parish councillors George Beckford, Anne Edwards, Fred Watkins, Heather Williamson and Gary Wyatt. It is planned to co-opt other village residents to help with drawing up an action plan to promote ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the village and to make Hethersett greener.

A leaflet identifying actions that residents can take to reduce their 'carbon footprint' has been produced by the action team and was delivered to houses in Hethersett during March 2008.
Car Share
Car sharing is when two or more people share a car and travel together. Car sharing is a simple way to cut the costs of fuel and parking, cut congestion and pollution, and cut the stress of driving. There are opportunities for Hethersett residents to participate in car sharing. See Car Share Norfolk website
