The first part of the job is discovering what's in your parish or village. In the past this might have been quite an ordeal but, thankfully, life is now made a lot easier by the much of the information being collated online.

The first port of call for information is something called 'MAGIC'. MAGIC is the first web-based interactive map to bring together information on key environmental schemes and designations into one place. This will give you a huge amount of easily accessible information on the location of all sorts of relevant places.

To make life nice and easy we have provided a step by step explanation of:

  • what information you need
  • what it means
  • how to get it

MAGIC - Your first port of call

While MAGIC can provide you with a good deal of information, there is a certain amount of more locally specific information that is not on MAGIC at present. This includes important things such as the location of Country Wildlife Sites (a link to which is in the Glossary) as well as some recreational aspects that may pass through your parish, such Norfolk Circular Walks, Cycle Rides, old maps and historical information that may be interesting or might give you a historical perspective on the landscape around you.

We have provided information on these features in the section on Additional Sources of Information
